Lijiang, China, Selected to Host Prestigious Mekong Tourism Forum 2024

We are delighted to share that Lijiang, China, has been selected as the host city for the Mekong Tourism Forum 2024 (MTF 2024). Scheduled from April 23 to 25, this year’s forum promises to be an extraordinary gathering of travel professionals and stakeholders from the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS).

Empowering Visionary Journeys: Redefining Tomorrow’s Travel

Under the theme “Visionary Journeys Redefining Tomorrow’s Travel,” MTF 2024 aims to provide a collaborative platform for industry leaders to shape the future of GMS tourism. With an expected attendance of 200 participants, including tourism ministers, NTOs, NGOs, and private sector representatives, this forum will champion collaboration, innovation, and forward-thinking strategies.

Exploring New Frontiers: Maximizing Tourism Potential

The forum will delve into various topics crucial for maximizing tourism’s potential in the Asia-Pacific region. Discussions will cover the latest trends, destination marketing and management innovations, sustainable practices, inclusive tourism, and the transformative impact of technology on travel experiences.

Inspiring Sessions and Engaging Activities

Attendees can look forward to engaging keynote speeches offering insights into the future of GMS travel, panel sessions focusing on international cooperation for sustainable tourism growth, and interactive workshops designed to foster meaningful discussions and idea exchanges.

In addition to the enriching sessions, delegates will have the opportunity to participate in field studies, explore Lijiang’s historic Old Town, and visit exhibitions highlighting the city’s rich cultural heritage.

MTF 2024 is proudly hosted by the Bureau of International Exchanges and Cooperation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China in collaboration with the Yunnan Provincial Culture and Tourism Department, the People’s Government of Lijiang City, and the Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office. The event is co-organized by the Lijiang Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism and Network International Culturalink Entities.
